Foo Chee San was a prominent Singapore-based artist originally from Hainan, China. He trained at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and pursued further art education in Japan. Over a five-decade career, he contributed significantly to both art and education, holding various influential roles including positions at the Ministry of Education and the Singapore Art Society. Known for his versatility, Foo worked across multiple mediums such as oil, woodblock, lacquer, and Chinese ink, often depicting Southeast Asian life and landscapes. His work was exhibited internationally and widely collected. Foo passed away in his hometown in China in 2017.
